What hostme is
hostme is a web app for hosting events and pitch-ins. You create an event, share a link, and people can RSVP and let you know what they’re bringing or what task they are helping with according to the list you created. That’s the product.
hostme is a creation of Guardian Media, Inc..
Accounts and events
You are responsible for the events you create, the guest lists you upload, and what you send to those people. Don’t use hostme to spam, harass, impersonate, or run a scam. Don’t post illegal content or steal other people’s photos or lists.
We can refuse, hide, or delete an event or account that we think is abusive, fraudulent, or a problem for other people. We don’t have to give a long explanation first.
Guests and hosts
Hosts see the guest information for their own events. Guests see only what the host’s visibility settings allow. Public event pages may show a title, time, and whatever the host marked public. Private events stay behind a link and a host approval.
Texts
We send SMS only if you opt in — for example on the text alerts page or a later account setting. Messages are about a specific event: an invite, a “you’re in,” or a short note the host asked us to send. Not daily marketing. Message frequency follows the event. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Messages come from a hostme number (888-996-6992). That is the From number for texts, not the public contact number. More in the privacy page.
The boring-but-true bits
The service is provided as-is. We try to keep it up, but we don’t promise zero downtime, perfect backups, or that every RSVP will go through a cell carrier. You use hostme at your own risk. We aren’t a party to your party — disputes between hosts and guests are yours to sort out.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without the conflict-of-law runaround. This is not legal advice and is not a substitute for talking to a lawyer if you need one.
